Disneyland says it plans to furlough additional employees, citing the unknown future of reopening in California's restrictive coronavirus climate.

According to the Daily Mail, staff received a memo from Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock on Monday warning of additional furloughs to come.

"The recently released state guidelines put us in limbo regarding a reopening timeline in the foreseeable future," Potrock said, adding that Disney is "in the untenable situation of having to institute additional furloughs for our executive, salaried, and hourly cast."

Furloughed employees will at least be able to keep health insurance.

Last month, California Health Secretary Mark Ghaly announced that theme parks like Disneyland may reopen once the county has entered the state's minimal risk tier. With the recent tier demotion for many counties across the state, it doesn't look like "minimal risk" will be obtainable anytime soon.
