You Might Be A Karen If You Have One Of These Names With Karen Undertones

July 28, 2020

In true Karen fashion, Karens are pretty upset that their name is the chosen one to represent angry middle-aged white women who won't wear a mask. To make the best decision possible in stereotyping people (I say this sarcastically), we must ask ourselves if Karen is actually the best name to use.

According to The Conversation, the name Karen actually peaked in popularity in 1965, which would make Karen age 55. However, I found a great chart on Reddit that explains Karens are in their 30s and 40s, and once they hit age 50, they are a Susan. (Women in their 20s are Beckys.)

Because Karen is clearly a spectrum situation, we'll say today's Karen in 2020 is somewhere between the ages of 34 and 47. Younger Karens probably display Becky traits, and older Karens display Susan traits. Also keep in mind that Karens traditionally sport a hairstyle similar to the "Can I Speak To The Manager" cut that Kate Gosselin made famous on TV years ago, but Karens realistically come in all shapes, sizes, and hairstyles.

Below is a list of names with Karen undertones that were super popular between the years 1973-1986 (via various searches on and If your name is on this list, you might be a Karen.
