The new Netflix adaptation of The Baby-Sitters Club just came out, and I had a chance to watch it this weekend.

I have to admit, I actually never read the books. My sister had them, and she was a babysitter...but I had absolutely NO interest in ever babysitting, so (in protest) I decided not to read the books. I've always been more of a non-fiction reader, anyway.

My 4th of July was spent mixing up Moscow Mules for myself and watching Netflix, while periodically checking on my dog who wanted to sit outside in the sun on our patio all day. I'd like to think that I was just pregaming for the illegal fireworks that were about to ensue that night, but I think I was just really bored not getting to dine in at a restaurant.

Without giving you any spoilers whatsoever, here are my drunk thoughts on Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club

  • I'm obsessed with Claudia's stylish jackets, especially the pink jacket she wears in episode 3. Like, I want it.
  • This Kristy girl really needs to grow up and stop being so full of her self. Hug your mom, girl. Both of you should go to therapy together.
  • Man, the yellow kitchen backsplash in Mary Anne's dad's kitchen is ugly AF.
  • Lol wow, they really threw Californians under the bus for eating "weird" food.

Now that the alcohol is out of my system, here's what I really think of it: this is a cute show that actually isn't all that bad. It's not stupid like I thought it would be. However, if you're looking for EXTREME scandal, you're definitley not going to get it with this show. It's VERY PURE. I mean, obviously it's not going to be super scandalous because they're preteens. Lol but it is very innocent and cute, and it will give you warm fuzzies. Also, the only actor you'll recognize is Alicia Silverstone, who plays Kristy's mom. I have to admit though, I didn't realize it was Alicia Silverstone until she had some very Cher/Clueless inflections in her voice and facial expressions.
