Governor Gavin Newsom announced new operational guidance for hair salons and barbershops in California, bringing some hope to our communities.

According to KCRA, Newsom announced in Monday's press briefing that hair salons and barbershops may be able to operate outdoors much like restaurants are able to move their dining tables outside for guests.

"We recognize the immense hardship hairstylists, barbers, manicurists and estheticians face in light of the COVID pandemic. Some services will be allowed outdoors," the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency said.

Newsom ponted out that, while California is seeing a reduction in the rate of growth of coronavirus cases, the fact that we still have growth "only reinforces the seriousness of this moment and the importance of taking personal responsibility...to practice the physical distancing, do our activities outdoors as much as we can."
