With renewed publicity surrounding the Watts family murders case via the Netflix documentary, American Murder: The Family Next Door, the mistress of Chris Watts has applied to legally change her name.

According to the Daily Mail, 32-year-old Kessinger applied to change her name in Jefferson County, Colorado. She hasn't been seen or heard from publicly for two years, the last time being when she voluntarily reached out to police with information that she'd been involved in an affair with Chris Watts.

Back in 2018, Radar Online reported that Kessinger moved to another state, started a new job, and was placed in the witness protection program.

The Daily Mail says that, among numerous Google searches made by Kessinger during the investigation, the last one noted by investigators involved how much money Amber Frey made in her book deal following the murder or Laci Peterson, her net worth, and "did people hate Amber Frey." The Watts family murders draw some parallels to the Laci Peterson case, including Chris Watts having an affair and that Shanann Watts was also with child when she was murdered by her husband.
