West Sac Residents Are Told To Evacuate Due To Levee Fire

UPDATE: The fire in West Sacramento burned about 5 acres before being contained. It is no longer threatening homes, according to West Sacramento Fire Marshal Bryan Johnson (via KCRA).

West Sacramento residents are being told to evacuate their homes due to a fire on the levee, KCRA reports. 

The outlet is saying that firefighters are telling people door-to-door in the Fountain Drive area to evacuate on an as needed basis. 

West Sac Police Department tweeted on Tuesday afternoon about the fire, "Due to a grass fire in the area of Rivercrest and Westlake, traffic on Westlake, Rivercrest Fountain, Waterford and Riverbank are all closed to traffic at this time. Police and Fire personnel are on site and we will update as more information is available."
