Make Music Day 2017 Celebration in Sacramento

Event Description:

Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world held on the
summer solstice, June 21st. Make Music Day is open to people of all ages and to all
types of musicians, from amateur to professional players. It all started ten years ago,
when the Fête de la Musique from France came to North America with the debut of
Make Music New York. Starting as a small grassroots initiative by a team of volunteers,
the event quickly became an immense success. In recent years, other cities across the
continent have launched their own Make Music celebrations. On June 21, 2016,
thirty-eight North American cities organized 3,238 free concerts at 1,078 locations, all
on a single day.

Tim’s Music, located at 6818 Fair Oaks boulevard in Carmichael, CA, plans to
hold an event to celebrate this holiday starting at 10 am until around 5pm. The event will
include performances inside and outside of the store throughout the day, featuring
community groups from the greater Sacramento area. The celebration will also include
a raffle, carnival style games, and “sound exploration” booths where participants will
have the opportunity to try playing musical instruments, make their own instruments out
of household materials, learn about instruments they may not have seen before, and so
much more!

Tim’s Music was founded in 1977 by Tim Lawrence and began initially as a band
instrument repair shop. The store became known for its outstanding repairs, quality
instruments, and vast selection of mouthpieces, reeds, and other band and orchestra
instrument accessories. Scott and Melissa Mandeville bought the business from Tim,
and it has continued to grow since then. Tim’s Music offers instrument sales and
rentals, has an incredible repair shop, and offers private music lessons for students of
all ages and abilities. We invite the public to join us for this fun, free event on June 21st!
