The Wake Up Call

June 12, 2019

Gavin was a happy boy who was born in Philadelphia, PA.  Then one day he met a horrible little monster named Kevin Nguyen and his life was ruined.  He was never the same after that.  He never smiled after that.  He never was able to shake the beast of Kevin on his shoulder and therefore he was haunted for the rest of his life.  The end.

I was born and raised right here in Sacramento and have never lived anywhere else.  After graduating from El Camino High School, I went on to ARC for a very short time but quickly realized college was not for me.

From 18-25 years old, I did everything from telemarketing to mortgage underwriting and everything in between until I stumbled into a radio sales position.   From there I weaseled my way into an on air position and I have been annoying Gavin ever since ;)

I love love LOVE my job and feel like I am doing exactly what I was designed to do... despite waking up waaaay before sunrise.

This is what my average day looks like:

3:45am – Wake up

5:00 am -  Arrive at work

5:30am – Start the show

5:30 am to 10:00am – Show

10:00am to 11:30am – Post show meetings

11:30am to 2:30 – Nap/Gym/Errands/Doc appts/etc (usually nap;)

2:30 to 3:45 – Pick up kids

3:45 to 5:30 – Kid stuff/ home work/ Misc

5:30 – 8:00 – Dinner/Hang/Shower

8:30 – Bed time

For those that don’t know, I have three awesome girls that are all very different.  My oldest Emma is the more reserved of the three.  She is a bad ass comp soccer player and dominates everything she does; both on the field and as well as in life.  My middle daughter Abbey is the sweetest person I’ve ever known.  Abbey was born with only half of her heart and has had three open hearts surgeries and numerous hospitalizations.  Her condition is very serious but she is thriving.  My youngest Audrey is our “difficult” one.  She has the face of a cherub but she is an adorable little, stubborn devil lol.  And then there is my sweet husband Mike who somehow manages to keep the balance in our life and keep all four women in our house happy.  We are an extremely close family and I feel so very blessed to have them all.

Rayne is a personality that blends music and pop culture into his colorful, witty and sometimes over the top, hilarity. He has a confident, addictive personality that lures you in and won't let go. Rayne joined the Wake Up Call on 106.5 The End in May 2017. Starting in radio at the age of 13, Rayne has made radio not only is career, but his passion. Rayne loves to showcase new and up-coming music and artists, thought-provoking banter and tongue-in-cheek commentary into his show every day. When he is not on the radio, you can find him watching San Francisco Giants baseball, traveling on the weekends, shredding powder on his snowboard at Lake Tahoe, working out at the gym or just watching movies with his dog, Henry the Pug. Rayne has also been an active philanthropist with organizations like Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Boys & Girls Club and Ronald McDonald House.

Intern Kevin

I’m the luckiest “baby angel” ever. I am the newest addition to the Wake Up Call and I absolutely love it! I ended up with the Wake Up Call by meeting Katie & Gavin at the 5k Color Run in Sacramento, we instantly clicked and I became their intern. I interned for them for about a year and a half and had the opportunity to be on-air with my own “Did You Know With Intern Kevin” segment which put me on the map. Nearing the end of my internship, I was lucky enough to be hired on with the help of all our listeners! SHOUTOUT TO ALL OF YOU GUYS! <3.  Outside of the station, I am your typical college student that is going to school to major in Communication Studies while balancing several jobs and taking care of my two dogs, Snickers & Oreo. I spend any of my free time if I have any playing computer games & my PS4 or kicking it with friends! Keep up with me through Twitter, Instagram & Snapchat! , @kevinwakeupcall.  If you ever see me out and about, don’t be afraid to approach me, I will be super excited to see you! I LOVE EVERYONE!
